Ellie & Mike’s Elegant Detroit Colony Club Wedding

Ellie and Mike had an amazing and elegant fall Colony Club wedding! They began their day getting ready at the Westin Book Cadillac. Ellie and her bridesmaids had the cutest flannel buffalo plaid bridesmaids shirts- perfect for relaxing and/or snuggling on a crisp fall day!

The vibe was fun and laid back with so much laughter. Their long green dresses were both lovely and comfortable- an amazing combo, and with pockets to boot! Ellie was smart and wore sparkly flats and her dreamy dress was absolutely perfect for the crisp and sunny fall day. Their bouquets, and all the florals, were gorgeous- designed by Viviano’s Flower Shop.

Mike and his guys were so dapper in their navy blue tuxes- a new favorite of ours! And super awesome matching socks. Ellie gave her dad the most thoughtful cuff links reminding him that he was her first love!

Before their Colony Club wedding, we went with Ellie and Mike to some of their favorite downtown Detroit spots.  We headed to Eastern Market, where the beautiful couple was an unexpected highlight of the popular weekend farmer’s market shoppers. We stopped at some of the amazing Murals in the Market, including a Ouizi and a Dabls, just a few examples of the fantastic public art and talented artists we have here in Detroit.

Another highlight was the Shinola love locks– Ellie and Mike sealed the deal with their own love lock. We also took a stroll through the popular public art alley, The Belt.

Mike is a big Detroit Tigers fan. When they first started dating, he had season tickets, and they started falling in love at the many game dates they went on. Comerica Park was definitely a must-do on our stops that day!

Their Colony Club wedding ceremony was just lovely. This lovingly restored venue is definitely one of the most beautiful places to get married in Detroit! Their guests were overjoyed to be part of their personal, touching, and whimsical ceremony. Their officiant was a close family friend, readings included Dr. Seuss, and they integrated traditions from both of their families and cultures. It was really a unique and special ceremony to celebrate both their relationship and their individuality. Ellie and Mike did not stop smiling the whole time!

A Beautiful Day Planning kept the entire day moving so smoothly. The cake was pretty and delicious, from Love & Buttercream, with a cake topper that has been on Ellie’s parent’s and grandparent’s wedding cakes. The band was Nick Kuhl and the Gang, and they kept the crowd dancing the whole night. It was an amazing wedding day, and we are so honored that we were able to capture it for them and their awesome families and friends. Congratulations Ellie and Mike!
