Emily & Sébastien’s Lovely Lake Huron Wedding at Pointe aux Barques

Emily & Sébastien had an amazing wedding weekend at Pointe aux Barques, in Port Austin. There were a few important themes that carried through this whole weekend- family, friendship, French Champagne, fun, traditions, love and the beautiful surroundings of this amazing place. Emily and Sébastien were married right outside of the beach-side home that she has spent her summers enjoying her whole life. The house has been in her family for four generations, and the memories that she and her family have created permeate the walls. It’s warm, inviting and instantly relaxing there. She had so many important mementos with her on this day- vintage handkerchiefs from the women in her family and a lovely antique brooch from her late great aunt (which she herself wore to Emily’s parents wedding decades earlier). Emily and her mother spent countless hours planning every detail, which not only looked amazing but also felt incredibly inviting and relaxed at the same time. Sébastien also had so many rich traditions from his French family, many of whom flew in from all over the world to celebrate with them. He wore his grandfather’s medal of honor inside of his suitcoat, which he was awarded serving in World War II in Normandy.  Emily impressed everyone with her nearly flawless vows spoken in French- she even received a huge round of applause in the middle of the ceremony! The whole wedding ceremony was beautifully translated in both languages, and celebrated both cultures coming together in love.  We went to the legendary Turnip Rock, and Lady Rock, where Sébastien proposed to Emily. If you look closely, you will see the carving of the mysterious lady in the rock, and the message her lovelorn suitor wrote to her. There was plenty of Champagne flowing the whole weekend and so much dancing and celebrating and love all around. Detroit’s own The Sun Messengers were amazing, and had everyone on the dance floor the entire night! The after-party went on into the wee hours at their beach side campfire, and we hear that some groomsmen never went to sleep,   sailing at dawn wearing little more than their pink ties and cargo shorts!  It was an amazing weekend filled with warmth, laughter, and so much fun! We had a fantastic time getting to know everyone, driving golf carts everywhere, and experiencing this special weekend with both families. Congratulations and Félicitations!
